Her Majesty's Theatre is a West End theatre, located in the Haymarket, in the City of Westminster. The present building was designed by Charles J. Phipps and was constructed in 1897 for actor-manager Herbert Beerbohm Tree, who established the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art at the theatre. In the early decades of the 20th century, Tree produced spectacular productions of Shakespeare and other classical works, and the theatre hosted premières by major playwrights such as George Bernard Shaw, J. M. Synge, Noel Coward and J. B. Priestley. Since World War I, the wide flat stage has made the theatre suitable for large-scale musical productions, and the theatre has specialised in hosting musicals. The theatre has been home to record-setting musical theatre runs, notably the World War I sensation Chu Chin Chow and the current production, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, which has played continuously at Her Majesty's since 1986. The theatre's capacity is 1,216 seats, and the building was Grade II* listed by English Heritage in January 1970. Really Useful Group Theatres has owned the theatre since 2000. (more...)

Why do you think southerners in Congress insisted on the passage of a "fugitive slave act"?
Q. And why did others oppose it?
Asked by Anon E. Mous A - Sat Sep 29 14:05:03 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Without the Fugitive Slave Act any free state became a sanctuary for an escaped slave. The Act put the full weight of the federal government behind retrieving escaped slaves and punishing any whites who aided or concealed them. This had the effect of forcing the Underground Railroad to ship them to Canada.

My sisters and I sold some inherited property last year.My sister insisted we sell the mineral rights with it?
Q. The problem is I wanted to keep mine. There is a gas well on the property. They sent papers to sign over my rights which I was sure I did.But I am still getting checks from them.Do I have the right to keep the checks and my share of the rights?I have not deposited any checks yet.
Asked by wandadecatur - Sun Mar 15 00:02:11 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No the checks go to the people who bought the mineral rights. If you know who they are contact them. If not them tell the gas company you need to return these checks and tell them you sold your rights.
